River Center Clinic
The River Centre Clinic completely changed my life. I went there once in 2014 and again in 2016, both times for 2+ months. When I originally walked through the doors in 2014, I was scared and distrustful of therapists. The staff at RCC changed my views. Each therapist got to know the individual, even if they were not working with them on a one-on-one basis. The therapists that I had there were knowledgeable, compassionate, and willing to help in any way they could. The center is for eating disorders, but they helped with my anxiety, depression, and PTSD as well.
My views on food have changed dramatically since receiving treatment at RCC. I no longer label foods "good" or "bad", because I have learned that all foods fit, everything is healthy in moderation. Facing "fear foods" at RCC was a huge help in my recovery, as there had been complete food groups I refused to eat before going there.
The Adult Living Community helped me to build connections and friendships, as well as to learn how to be accountable with others and ask for the support that I need. Because of this, I know have some of the strongest friendships I've ever had, and I can ask for help instead of using behaviors to try to get people to notice what I need.
The River Centre Clinic is also sensitive to LGBT issues and welcoming to people of all sexualities, genders, and other backgrounds.
I am incredibly grateful for my experiences at RCC and how they helped me get on track to a life worth living.
I have recommended this facility to several friends and will continue to do so when I see someone who is struggling with an eating disorder.
River Centre has helped me to grow into the strong woman I am today. I originally came to the clinic as an adolescent. However throughout working the program I was able to learn a lot not only about myself but about health in general. The clinic offers many different groups over the course of one’s stay. Depending on the group sizes the clinic also offers groups specifically for adults or adolescents. I have also spent time in the program as an adult too. The adult php program gives you a sense of independence while in program. It allows you to continue on with your life outside of program. I found a great fit within both of the programs. At the end of the day, the staff at the clinic want the very best for you and your recovery. They will continue to push you out of your comfort zone so the healing can begin. I am and will always be grateful for the time and healing that I have done within River Centre.
Over a year and a half ago I honestly felt my life was no longer worth the trouble. After being diagnosed with a life changing chronic illness and falling into a deep depression and a tough battle with Anorexia, I felt completely lost but at RCC I began an amazing journey of finding myself. In the first few weeks I refused to talk and found myself breaking down several times a day but as I became more nourished and myself, I realized how lucky I was to have a chance at recovery and pushed all my energy into being the best person I am. The staff and friends I met at RCC never gave up on and continue to push me in the right direction today. I am beyond thankful for everything RCC has given to me and for proving to me that my life is valuable and worth living.
Rcc has saved my life. Here I was given the tools necessary to better my life for myself and began the road to recovery. It's hard, it's uncomfortable, and so many days I wanted to give up. However, with an experienced, dedicated, and knowledgable staff, I was able to challenge the eating disorder and turn things around. I am now healthy and healthy minded. The clinic has science to back up their approach and puts an immense amount of time and research into the best individualized plan for each person that walks through the door in order to enable them to choose a life of health. Their methods are for long term success and set you up for life in "the real world" post treatment. Staff is there to aide you in integrating back to your life at a pace that will only make long term success even more likely. Thank you for all you've done for me, RCC!
The River Centre Clinic (RCC) has forever changed my life for the better. The staff are extremely knowledgeable about eating disorders and treatment practices. They are pioneers in the field and the program is evidence-based. They truly care about patients and the staff to patient ratio is lower so they really take the time to get to know you and challenge you to grow. The groups were extremely helpful in learning tools to manage life’s stressors without having symptoms. I learned not to label foods as “good” or “bad” and now have a healthy relationship with food and my body. I never thought I would feel genuine happiness and acceptance of who I am and the program was a big part of getting where I am today. RCC is the best treatment center out there and highly recommend seeking treatment here. Call them today! (http://river-centre.org)
Going through treatment at the River Centre Clinic was both the most difficult and the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Even when I didn’t think I could recover, the staff and other patients at RCC helped me push through and find the inner strength that my eating disorder had stolen from me. They taught me healthy coping mechanisms and other life skills that I now use every single day. RCC saved my life, and I am so incredibly grateful for the staff and for the lifelong friends that I made there. If anyone reading this is struggling with an eating disorder, please call the River Centre Clinic, and they will give you the help that you need. You CAN recover!
